Flood Relief Activities

On 27th July 2010, the monsoon rain poured down on the province of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and ultimately it turned into an extreme flooding of the province leaving tens of thousands of homes destroyed and inundating the land and livestock with over 70% of livestock dead and crops washed away.  This flood not only hit Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa but from North to South and over 20 million people displaced all over Pakistan.

On the onset of floods I started a small campaign to help the flood victims by arranging funds through my friends and family members.  As soon as I had funds and pledges from my contacts I responded with flood relief activities:

  • Basic food items: water, flour, lentils, rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea, milk, biscuits, dates.
  • Hygiene items: toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap, anti-lice shampoo, prickly heat powder, anti-rash cream, detergent, towel and menstrual cloth.
  • Basic accessories: Cooking pots, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, hand fans, matches, and candles.
  • Cloths – Male, Female and for children.
  •
As of today I have distributed 8 tons of food and other goods to approximately 600 families in the province of KP.  For logistics reasons I have to stick to the families of KP only.

I have now started as a pilot project to reconstruct a house in village Kala Killay, Near Peshawar.  Approximately the reconstruction of this house will cost PK Rupees 150,000/- and hope to reconstruct or repair more houses, once this project is completed within three weeks.

Me and my friend has also adopted IQRA MODEL SCHOOL in the village and so far we provided 40 chairs, two fans and one water motor and we have promise to reconstruct a new building for the school which will have eight class rooms, a staff room and two toilets.  We are waiting for donations for school so we can start the construction as soon as possible.

So far I have received donations around 600,000 rupees out of which I have spent 480,000 rupees and people have pledged some more donations for reconstruction of houses.
As of 31st December 2010, four houses has been reconstructed and handed over to the owners.  In mid January 2011, will start construction of a new school building for IQRA PUBLIC SCHOOL, Village Kala Killay, Peshawar.

This all was possible because of trust in me by my donors.  Thanks to my donors.
